The 2013 AdvoCare V100 Bowl will be played on Dec. 31 at Independence Stadium, with kickoff set for 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time, 11:30 a.m. Central Time.
The game will be televised on ESPN, marking the 22nd-consecutive year the bowl has been televised on an ESPN network. ESPN first televised the 1992 Independence Bowl featuring a 39-35 Wake Forest victory against Oregon.
"We are excited to have the 2013 AdvoCare V100 Bowl kick off a great day of college football on New Year's Eve,” 2013 AdvoCare V100 Bowl Chairman John Hubbard said. “The unopposed 11:30 a.m. time slot on ESPN will allow fans across the country to tune in to the game, and the game date should be appealing for those traveling to Shreveport-Bossier for the match up of ACC and SEC foes.
“For the 38th-consecutive year, we are looking forward to showcasing all that northwest Louisiana has to offer, and this date and time gives visiting and local fans the chance to enjoy our area restaurants and entertainment options for every age group.”
With the Dec. 31 game date, the AdvoCare V100 Bowl will be played on New Year’s Eve for the eighth time in the Bowl’s 38-year history, and the first time since Arkansas and Missouri squared off in 2003.
The AdvoCare V100 Bowl is in its final year of contract agreements with the ACC and SEC. The Bowl will have the sixth pick after BCS from the ACC and the ninth pick after BCS from the SEC.
This is the first year the game will be known as the AdvoCare V100 Bowl, and it is the fifth year AdvoCare will be the title sponsor of Shreveport’s post-season college football game.
